After receiving such great reviews in the last round of testing the product, we decided to move forward with the product development. This includes the nutritional label, product label, packaging, and reconstituting instructions. To create a factual nutritional label, we first had to standardize the amount of each ingredient in each individual cheese stick. This involved the careful measurement of each ingredient and mixing them together to an even mixture. Then the extruder attachment of the bowl mixer was used to form up the product. Then using an online nutritional value generator, we created a nutritional label that is up to FDA standards. For the creation of the product label, we brainstormed and researched different variations and designs before deciding on a template that we thought could be best adapted to our needs. With the template in place, we began the tedious process of creating a label that would really highlight out product. This process took a long time seeing as every member of the group contributed to the finish product in order to ensure that everyone was happy with the finished product. The decision on packaging presented its own group of questions/problems. We had to decide if we wanted to uses similar packaging to similar existing products, what we were willing to pay for packaging, and how would each packaging affect the integrity of the product. After careful consideration of all the criteria, we decided that the integrity of the product of was the most important seeing as the customer would want unbroken product. Therefore, we decided to go with a form of cardboard box encasing a sealed plastic bag with the product inside. The box has the nutritional information, product label, and the reconstituting instructions. The reconstituting instructions consist of either baking or frying the product to its optimal doneness.
