The first week of our product development we have focused on tossing around different ideas about which products we thought would be desirable. We came up with three different initial ideas that we thought would be appealing to a consumer, but were also all unique in some way. The three products we decided on are as listed: Chicken Cheese Sticks, Buffalo Chicken Poppers, and Chick-a-loaf. After we decided upon these three ideas when began to formulate ideas for the ingredients that we would include in each product. The ingredients within the Chicken Cheese Sticks are: shredded mozzarella, hot cheetos, panko breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, flour, vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. Our idea is to emulsify the chicken with the mozzarella first, and placing them into a pan to refrigerate. When the product is cooled down we will cut out the emulsified chicken and cheese into cheese stick shaped units. The other ingredients will be used in the battering and breading, which will be added before frying the product. The reason we have selected Chicken Cheese Sticks is because we think this product will attract the younger generation, and will be an easy product to prepare as a convenient snack. The ingredients within our second product, Buffalo Chicken Poppers, are buffalo chicken sauce, pizza dough, butter, phosphate, cheddar, salt and modified food starch. The pizza dough will act as the outer crust of the product, with the other ingredients added into the batter and breading process, which will finally be baked in the oven. This product will also be desirable for the younger generation as a convenient snack or appetizer before a meal. The final product, Chick-a-loaf, is a modified form of chicken meatloaf that has the following ingredients; onion, ground chicken, bacon, salt, pepper, garlic powder, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce. This product will reach to the older generation of people and will be more directed towards a entrée type dish. Next week we will begin creating these products inside of the kitchen and see which products turn out the best and narrow our three products down to our one best product.
